Members, apologies for missing the weekend post. I was busy with my daughter at her Volleyball tourney.

I thought I’d post my semi converted MG34 with Trommelhalter and drum.
It’s an interesting piece, even if semi. The original Trommelhalter is very difficult to find, as many fakes exist. I also have the single drum/belt cover as well.

MG 34........one of my favorites. I got an FA one from a party in Montana more than a few (25?) years ago. KLBliss sticks in my mind.......I think I paid $3500.

It is dfb '41, #1159, match numbers except the bolt & barrel. (I once saw pictures of MG 34 #1). Mine has the capped 'bakelite' stock used early on, and either a super good reblue or a Luger quality finish. Didn't function worth a hoot...fired 4-5, then there would be a jam as the empty and loaded round would both be in the area in front of the bolt. Took a while to find out the barrel return spring was broken, a new set of springs cured all its ails. I borrowed a real Trommel-Halter from a fellow in Cincinnati during the testing of the repair. I find them to be cumbersome to load. I do not have the correct device for that, looked at re-poped loaders at Knob Creek 10-12 years ago, but didn't get one....another one of many mistakes I have made....I also have an MG 15.

The MG 34 can be fired off a suitable table, the MG 42 not so. Some pictures........the double feed drum is Jap. M-100 twin 8mm gun from the back seat of their torpedo plans, most of these are in the bottom of the Pacific. Her sour expression is because we got rained out!!!!!!
