In the 1990's there were many thousands of the VZ-52 pistols imported in 7.62x25mm and sold cheaply. Most had been rebuilt/refurbished and were marked with the rebuild year. The original guns had a problem with the pins drifting as the cartridge worked them hard. Most will be found to have had the pins staked to prevent them drifting.

At the same time, a lot of surplus Spanish guns were comping in chambered in 9mm Largo or 9x23mm. There was a "Largo Society" whose members swapped stories and collected the various models of 9mm Largo pistols. Then Century Arms began selling the VZ-52 with 9mm Luger barrels installed. I suspect they took guns with bad 7.62X25mm barrels and simply installed 9mm Luger barrels. They were also inexpensive and I think Century sold a lot of them.

Someone in the Largo Society bought a 9mm Largo reamer and members were converting the 9mm Luger VZ-52 pistols to 9mm Largo. The cartridge works well through the standard magazine and the conversions were good guns. I've never heard of any that gave problems. Below is my VZ-52 with a 9mm Largo and a 7.62x25mm barrel. Haven't shot it in awhile but the last time I did, it shot well.

Hey Doubs, Were you a Largoisto?! If so, long time no see, brother :)

I bought one of the CAI, dual barrel (7.62x25 & 9x19) Vz 52 pistols. Mine had the original finish stripped and had been reblued an almost black color. Both barrels serial numbered to the gun, proofed in the Czech Republic. Here is a photo of the chamber area w/cartridge and Czech firing proof:

The pistol was marked as the work BRNO Arms :) Kyrie
Hi Brother Largoisto. Yes, I was one of the original Largo Society members and still have several 9mm Largo pistols including a Star Model A, Star Super and Star B Super with both 9mm Luger and 9mm Largo barrels. I also have my copy of the "SOCIEDAD LARGO CD" dated 11 NOV 98. It's a bit difficult to navigate now but still has over 100 Largo related articles plus a lot of other information.

My VZ-52 has a phosphate finished frame but the slide was polished and blued. I don't recall who reamed the chamber but the numbers don't match. It still shots fine. Note that the word "Luger" on the chamber was polished off after the conversion. Yours is a nice looking VZ-52. Below are my Stars.
