Here are the links to the "new" guns I am adding to the list -

#1979 - https://www.hermann-historica.de/de/auctions/lot/id/35781

#313 - https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/pistols/military-pistols-german/1908-dwm-bulgarian-german-luger-rig-very-rare.cfm?gun_id=101067482

The second pistol has several issues, and the seller was not accommodating in providing more pictures of the gun or magazines. Here's one that should provide a little more info when compared with other 1908 Bulgarians. The sear bar is also not original. I am classifying this as Refinished/MisMatched. If you need more info please contact me by PM.

Restored/refinished 1908 Bulgarian #3986 sold on Feb. 11 for almost $3K.

As much as a I try to like Eugene's work, I would rather he leave these old guns alone and focus on the new ones, or at least be more complete in his description of what was done to put together this "restoration". This one was pieced together and force matched (actually only the frame is originally from #3986), and there are several problem areas. I'm sorry if anyone here unsuspectingly put that much into this gun.

1908 Bulgarian #1916 (already on the list) is on Gunbroker, described as "all original", but is hardly so. First time we've seen pictures. Here is the description from a 2008 Poulin auction, which is more accurate and carried a much more reasonable price:

"DWM 1908 Bulgarian Luger. Cal. 9mm. S# 1916. Overall condition is restored to 99% with some replacement parts that have been renumbered to match the gun. This gun was not taken apart to check if interior numbers were matching. Bore is near mint. Bulgarian crest on toggle. Lion proof on right side of receiver. Movable lanyard loop at bottom of grip strap. Walnut grips appear re-checkered. Wood bottom magazine appears to be renumbered to match the gun. (4-33152 / BS / JC) Curio. Est. $ 1200 - 1600."

Mark: According to your description on post #1 I believe mine is a 1908.
Frame serial:4153,,,takedown lever, safety lever and safety,,, trigger, and grips are all numbered 53.
the hold open is 25. The only number i can find on the toggles is an 11 on the underside of the center toggle and an 11 on the left side of breach block. The bulg. crest is there but thin. I believe this gun to have been buffed before the reblue that has obviously been done. The axis pin is 52. the sideplate is matched at 53. barrel is a replacement with an electro pencil number not matching, and is 9mm. The sear bar is numbered 153. DWM over the chamber and lion on the right side. both are thin but there.
The rec. is numbered 1118 on the left side with some odd stamp or possibly electro. There is a small electro number 081.23 on the barrel, rec., and right side of the frame. Everything is reblued except the takedown lever and the ejector. grips are very worn but matching. Magazine has had center round on the bottom filed flat and numbered 4158 with a sideways 66 below it.
Hope all this helps and i will try to get photos as soon as possible.

Mark -

Thanks for the report, I would love to see some pictures. Sounds like a basically intact but rebarreled 1908 Bulgarian, with some other small part replacement, which is pretty typical for these pistols.

Sanitized #1100C has become available on Gunbroker - there appears to be a shadow of the Bulgarian crest still visible on the toggle, but otherwise sanitized and rebarreled.

List updated today in the first post with many small edits. The most significant was to delete #371C from the primary list - it's the same as #871C, decreasing the total intact pistol count to 125.
