As indicated in my post of 11/04/03 Grip strap markings under the Central Powers Pistols and Accessories 1900/1918 I stated that when this pistol arrives the serial # would be posted for anyone wishing to update their data bases. Well she arrived today after much paperwork 7183 (d) 93RMG on front grip strap, two original serialed magazines stamped down the spine rather than across the spine, came complete with holster that begs a question. The holster is stamped inside of flap with an ink stamp 72R and another letter that is faded also stamped into the leather in very large letters # 191 and another # that is not a 1 .The flap is also stamped in the normal fashion with the makers name Franz Hermann over top Erfurt 1911. My question is did the Erfurt arsenal produce leather goods or was Erfurt the name of a town with Franz Hermann residing within a long time ago. The pistol is in fine shape, no stock lug, holdopen was added at a later date and stamped with a small proof to indicate this. The proof at the holdopen is an identical stamp as on the takedown tool in Jans post about the 1912 Erfurt pioneer unit
