Hey all, got this Luger in and boy am I confused. From what I've found and been helped with so far, this was originally a 1914 commercial (factory stock lug, hold open, lack of proofs on right receiver). It features a lazy C/N on the left side above the 83XXX SN. Now it gets weird. The chamber has a 1921 date on it, yet it appears to be roll marked and not hand stamped. Additionally, the barrel and frame have an a-suffix after the SN. It is also police marked with sear-safety. I also note the toggle pin has 4 digits versus the usual 2. The matching mag has the full SN too. Is this a police rebuild of a 1914 commercial? Why does a fairly late gun have a lazy C/N? Why does it have a roll marked chamber date? Any help is much appreciated!

Fascinating that yours here is 4000 SN block later than the OP, but comes without a stock lug to it in the 1908 style instead of the 1914 style with a lug. I owned a commercial exported to the US 80395 that was 1914 commercial style frame but the slightly under 4” barrel in .30 cal.
