Jesse, Does it look to you like a reblue? for instance does it appear that blue has been buffed off the safety and does the right hand end of the takedown lever appear to be blued. Sniff the bluing, does it smell like garlic? Does the rear toggle link appear to have the remains of a rear sight that has been ground off? Is there a serial number on the barrel?
I don't have the pistol yet, it is being sent to me. Saw it in the store, and took pics.
Don't know the fine points to look for. I'll learn on this one,I've always said it costs money to go to school.
Jesse
Hi Jesse,
Even if it does have some cold blue on it. You got it for a decent price. When you get it,take some good clear photos in bright natural light. Congratulations! Ron
Nice luger, never be sorry for two many pictures, generaly it is the lack of them or no facilities that is a concern.
You are correct that luger tuition is not cheap but we all started somewhere.
May I have permission to use your photo of the crop dusting chopper to send to a friend of mine that pilots a Seaking helicopter for the Canadian military. Don is also a fine luger collector.
Looks to be heavy patina on the barrel , is this correct.
In the picture of the barrel serial number it appears that the frosting or halo normally found around the digits is missing, indicating that the gun might have been reblued at some time in its history. I believe that the halo around the barrel SN is almost universal in Imperial Lugers with original finish, but I am not sure that bit of wisdom applies to LP-08s. Perhaps someone more experienced with Imperial Artys could comment on this.
