Is there any way to check the history behind as 9mm 1914 Navy Luger serial number 6597. 6" barrel, chamber dated 1917, rear toggle marked DWM. The butt with usual chequered wooden grips and lanyard-ring. Pistol has leather holster with cleaning rod and stripping tool. The leather is stamped "I.Z.A. J. Karlsruhe"

Probably no way to provide any information on the history of this specific Luger since you do not mention whether it is unit marked. General history of Navy Lugers is available in various Luger books, most of which are available either new or used.

As usual, members here would be very interested in pictures which would enable more useful comments.
