Bryant, I have a list of 230 makers from WW1 but after a quick scan I didn't come up with anything right off from your scant description. I suspect the first word is Sattler. Sprinkle a little baking soda over the letters and see if it clarify's them any . Let me know if you come up with anything more and I will look again. Jerry Burney
Jerry, I think you are right. The baking soda worked-it does appear to be Sattler, but what is JNNUNG? And the word below appears to be HANNOVER...just above the 1915-which is very clear. Thanks!
Bryant, I believe it is Sattlerinnung. This is a German word that undoubtably means leatherworker of some sort. I hope one of our German speakers can clarify this for us if they stumble apon this thread...Jerry Burney
