Help Please. I have a 1917 Long Barrel Luger, 9 mm stamped 9678 in several places on the gun, all other parts are stamped 78, under the barrel it's stamped 9678 (with a symbol underneath I don't understand)and then right at the barrel base it's stamped 883.It has the DWM stamp and seems to be stainless steel not blued like most others.
I've had it for 40 years and got it from my grandfater. It's in the leather holster that straps and buckles. (not a snap attachment)

Can someone tell me what I have and what it's worth? Thanks,

Sam

More than likely it has been nickled, that shoots the collector value completly, so it is probably worth $800-$1200 maximum.

But pictures (many) would help us in help you.

Sam, pictures would be a great help also of the holster, etc. The holster may be worth more than the pistol. Ed's right about the collector value of a chromed or nickled pistol.

Thanks for the information. Long week at work, company at the house, and flying out in the morning for Boston -NYC for several days (work), I'll get pictures of the pistol and gun posted next weekend.

I appreciate your help.
