1918 DWM Artillery site base markings.

Dear Friends:

On my 1918 DWM Artillery Luger, all numbers are matching. However, I have a question regarding markings on rear sight base. The rear sight has the numbers #39 stamped in three different places, top left front, infront of sight blade and on right side of adjustment.

When the rear sight is all the way up, one can see the base screw. To the right of this screw there is a letter R stamped into the base. To the left of the base screw, the is a number 96 stamped.

Since the sight base is one piece, how or why would it have two different numbers stamped on it?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I checked my own LP08s looking at the numbers(else than the s.n.) below the sight.I realized there are some marks(numbers+letters) on the frame of the sight base near the screw,and some others inside the sight frame,stamped on the barrel body-flat top(the dove-tail of the sight frame).
Here are some serial numbers and numbers found inside the sight frame (the second ones) + the marks(numbers/letters) near the screw below the sight blade(the third ones) of some LP08s (the mine ones + the guns of 2 collectors-friends):

Probably within two weeks I'll be able to add some more,but I believe that by now it's already possible to try getting some conclusions about.Hope this helps.
