I’m having a hard time with this one. It certainly has had at least 3 sets of markings on it and probably 4 sets. Two are still very visible and tracking the periods and the removed areas 4 is a good guess.
I agree with the id above but it’s sort of good luck with figuring out what characters to the right of that are markings that relate to that unit or are mixed in with old markings. I suspect that the R at the end is what’s left of a previous army regiment marking and at least one of the digits in the marking is a previous marking, hard to say
