I have a question for the more knowledgeable collectors.
On Simpson's LTD. site is shown a DWM marked police luger with no chamber date (C40973). It does have a site notch cut. On the right side 3 C/S marks followed by eagle mark. All viewable numbers match. Is it most probable that someone just scrubbed the chamber date or is there some other explanation? I have gone through Jan Stills books and the Police Lugers book. And why is this luger priced so high. Is it just because of the intact magazine safety? I am still scratching my head. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks. Jim

Ed,
What do you think about the missing chamber date? I have been studying my books. With the notched receiver and the type of inspection marks presents would thinking it is a 1915 DWM artillery receiver used to build this pistol?
