E-mail sent, I can help posting pictures. There is a tutorial on how to do it under the help section. Unsure what you need? Do you assume the CU equals lativia? I assume the barrel was replaced by someone, possibly one of the ones that came to the US during the 50's? But many pictures and description of all markings would help.

Eric...... First things first, welcome to the forum. And what a fun toy to start with. Would appreciate seeing a close up of the bottom of the barrel to include the sn and where it meets the receiver. Are there any numbers on the bottom edge of the sideplate???

whats desearving was the 'v' was also after the 5252v on the clip bottom, I was warned, the giveavay was a slight difference in blueind on the barrel and rest of the gun, secondly, and importantantly was the first two digits '52' were a bit escew, out of line with the second "52" pair, caveat emptor , non alined, equaly spaced numerals and suffix, check the serial numbers, it was a beautiful mona lousy, eric the lame!r

Eric,

I promised to have a new look at your 5252v. I comment the photographs that you have in your album. I managed to pick them up.

The barrel lenght - 6 inch
The main unusual thing about this luger is the barrel length. In the reported Lugers from the Mauser commercial 'v' series, only three Lugers have 6" barrels, all three line genuine marked Stoegers in the block under 500v.

Barrel marks and the 'v' suffix
The barrel has the SN 5252 (without the 'v'suffix), and has also a C/U proofmark. The 'v' suffix on the frame has the correct model for this range. I am not so much focused on the fact that the alignment of the digits on both the barrel and the frame is not perfect. For a final judgement I would need a close up picture of both, allowing me to look for overstrikes. The fact that the SN on the barrel has no 'v' suffix is not alarming, many so called Latvian contracts do not have that either, and even the C/U proofmark and the barrel gauge are absent there.

The Magazine
This is absolutely not correct for the year, nor for this range of the 'v' series. It is a Heanel blued (122 - fxo) type which came in a few years later. Also there is no 'v' suffix stamped on it, which is always the case in this range. It might have been SN stamped to this pistol in Germany, or even much later. But how many Lugers have a matching magazine?

Need for some more pictures
I would like to see a clos up form the SN and proofmark on the left receiver, and also of the proofmark on the left side of the breechblock, and under the side plate as you have told above. Furthermore I see a ding or blur on the right side of the strawed trigger (pictures above), that looks like an Erfurt proof. Please make a close up picture of that part also. The last important picture I need is from the wittness mark between the barrel and the receiver, you have to take the receiver off to reach that spot.

No final ordeal yet, but I would not dare say that this is a fraud, based upon the facts we could analyze so far.
Good Luck!

Thank you for giving the luger, a second peak, Ill try to get additional info, the different marked blueing on the barrel, not matching the rest of the gun, raised eyebrows, as did the eskew 52,52v, It didnt fall in the range of known or documented strings, Apart from that, there was an OBERDORF CROWN OVER THE 'U' ON THE INSIDE OF THE SIDE PLATE, a mystery, Do Lugers have DNA??? just kiddin! Merci Beaucoup et aurevoir, mom amie, vraiment! translation,THANK YOU, SO LONG, MY TRUE FRIEND!!
