S/42 CODE-1937 DATED-STRAWED SUBVAR.-LUGER, WITH ACCESSORIES.
During 1937 Mauser produced approximately 126,000 Lugers in the 4500p to 400b serial range for the German military (a very few went to the Kriegsmarine and police). These bear a 1937 date, S/42 code and droop wing E/63 or stick wing E/63 acceptance stamp. There are two subvariations of 1937 S/42. Shown is the first subvariation with straw parts. These are found in the 4500p to 1500t serial range. About 37,000 were produced. (Any update in serial ranges
would be most appreciated.)

Yes, the spare mag shown, sn 2619n, droop wing E/63, would have been issued with a n suffix range 1936 S/42.

An excellent(95%+blue)-origonal all matching condition 1937 S/42 with two matching mags and a holster will sell for from $2200 to $3000. If it is not orignal, mismatched or reblued, the price can go down to $400 to $600. These are ball park estimates and those that regularly sell and buy at gun shows would be able to give a better estimate.

Any Luger with two origonal matching magazines should be considered rare. Please post detailed photographs.
