I have a 1938 navy luger that was captured by the british during wwII. it has been stamped with british capture proof marks. can anyone tell me if there is a way to trace the capture records to see if i can get the history of the capture.I was told that the gun was surrendered when a british destroyer captured a german submarine.

Jeff,
I don't think you have enough information to trace the capture. I had the British soldiers ser. no. and name and was told that all enlisted men's records were destroyed in a fire. This was for a WWI C96 capture. Try contacting the Imperial War Museum and see if they can send you somewhere.
