Hi there! I received this Luger as a gift. I would like to identify the military/police unit it was in. The grip has a stamp which appears like SSVI, where the second S is X'ed. Also, the first two S's look like they are upside down. May be they are two different stamps? Please, refer to the pics.

The proofs are all military, Kriegsmarine stopped adding property marks in 1940, so it come have been used by any branch of service.
I did not notice an X mark, so it may not be a Russian capture, though can't say for sure. Most DDR reworks show more DDR proofs etc. Interesting Luger.

Igrlik: Do all other guns from this era/generation have number and caliber on the barrel? I could not find any indications on the frame. I can take more detailed pictures of it.
