1940 Luger Identification

Hi there! I received this Luger as a gift. I would like to identify the military/police unit it was in. The grip has a stamp which appears like SSVI, where the second S is X'ed. Also, the first two S's look like they are upside down. May be they are two different stamps? Please, refer to the pics.

Grips and magazines are East German/DDR. Grip strap is Berlin Police in the Soviet Sector. Dwight and Ed may be able to add to that.

Luger it's self looks to be fairly straight and not overly redone. Nice piece. VOPO holster and tool shpuld not be hard to add.

The proofs are all military, Kriegsmarine stopped adding property marks in 1940, so it come have been used by any branch of service.

I did not notice an X mark, so it may not be a Russian capture, though can't say for sure. Most DDR reworks show more DDR proofs etc. Interesting Luger.
