Very impressive. I will go back and look some more 😍. I noticed a bunch of features right away and the tooling is amazing. The red grips are sexy

Absolutely beautiful! I love the grips and the tooling marks. I really like the holster too, it has a nice texture.

A tip for those who seek East German holsters; note the additional flap that protects the bottom of the gun. This is a typical DDR feature. Sometimes you see holsters with the flap removed, stitching holes still visible, being passed off as a WW2 item.

Admittedly I’m no expert, but it looks like someone went to town on this kit with a wire wheel and sand paper. If that’s the case then I hope at very least it still runs and can be enjoyed at the range.

These new 1953 pistols were made to function, not to look nice. So they skipped the finishing steps that had no influence on functionality. It is how they are supposed to look and these certainly are not 'shooters'!

I am assuming you know about these post war lugers and you are just joking :LOL:
Otherwise, here are references for learning more about the history and machining of those very rare Lugers:
“The Parabellum is Back: 1945-2000,” Baudino & Vlimmercn (2010);
“Police Lugers,” Tinker & Gruber (2012).

Say, it this the one that Simpson had?
👍🏼
“The Parabellum is Back: 1945-2000,” Baudino & Vlimmercn (2010); Chapter VIII - PO8 in EASTERN-BLOCK (p 214).

It's one of the more interesting chapter that I had not read until today.

Thanks @Vlim !!

If you have not done so, I would also suggest reading pp. 305-328 in “Police Lugers.”
