Okay, I need some expert input. I have been checking reference photos of the proofs on the few 1908 1st issues I can find. From what I've seen most appear to have been struck and then buffed prior to blueing. They appear soft edged and somewhat shallow. Is this the case? I am trying to determine if the proofs may give the appearance that an original finish, could appear to be re-blued. Or lead one to think that a pistol had been refinished? When it has'nt.

Thanks! Ron

The left receiver proofs on an original condition 1908 DWM (first issue)are usually dull. The following link will answer most such questions:

* REPOST: Halo or Frosting on Barrel Markings; Luke.( Use serial number halo to determine if Luger has original finish original.)
