can someone give me a rough production date for this commercial 38h, serial is 464857.

If I interpret Jim Cate's study of Sauers correctly, your 38H was produced after July 1944 and before March 1945. The thumb safeties were deleted somewhere around S/N 470,000, so yours is probably one of the last produced with one.

thanks lyn, there doesn't seem to be as many sources of information on the 38h, like the zillions of books on lugers and millions on p.38s.
