Submitted here is my example of a decent representative piece which , I trust all will enjoy and learn something from it. It has the large eagle 63 waffenamt proofs which collectors should become familiar with so as to determine whether or not your piece has the correct stamps for the period.

80.99 KB Now having throughly studied this example, and I know that you have, tell me what you have learned from the number 3's that were shown in the display of this luger, and you may not go back to look at it again ? Your final grade will depend upon your answer !

I noticed that some of the 3s had a flat top, whereas others had a round top.

I was comparing my 1939, "42", to yours as I went. My 3s are just like yours.

I'm new to Lugers, and I only have the one. Mine has VOPO grips, but no VOPO markings. Other than the VOPO grips, mine looks original, all matching. No VOPO paint, all original numbers, and all the marks are like yours, except mine has a peculiar script like "s" under the serial number on the frame, where your's has a "w". My Waffenamts are the same as yours.

Thanks for posting those pictures, they were very helpful in determining the originality of my pistol.
Yes, if one looks/studies the "Mauser" luger , one will find that the frame front will always have a round top number 3's whereas the remaining portion of the pistol's number 3's will be flat top.
Hi huggiebear,

That's a beauty. Congratulations. Great holster and scarce color.

Regards, Leon
