Just when you thought the world of collecting couldn't get any stranger.

For auction today we bring you the rarest firearm we have ever sold. This auction is for a one of a kind prototype 1935 German DWM G CODE Luger. Serial number 84. All matching numbers. This Luger is one of a kind because it was MADE WITHOUT A REAR SIGHT AT THE FACTORY. The toggle on this pistol was designed to be used as the rear sight groove.

Calling this piece of crap a prototype is really stretching things.

Refinished mismatched overbuffed frankenluger with an artillery rear toggle.

"Prototype" 😂😂😂

Very screwed up gun. And the beginning digits of the serial number were clearly erased to only say "84". Look at how far to the right it is on the frame relative to the suffix "a" below it lol. The ATF has entered the chat

Not sure if the comment regarding the ATF is due to alternated serial number or some other information that I don’t understand but unless the number was altered or removed post 1968 and can be proved as such then no law was broken. I do agree that the gun from any standpoint of being original is a basket case. I value everything at around $1000 with about half of that for the holster and tool.

Reminds me of a story. I was living in Palouse WA and went up to Spokane gunshow. I saw a guy carrying a nickeled luger and I asked him, hey can I see it. And he said he just bought it, this was in 2001 or so and he said he just bought this navy luger for $2500... I uh, nicely told him that there weren't any navy, nickeled lugers. He looked shocked and took off....

The immediate preceding number on the front of the frame was an 8. You can still see it in the auction pics.

So, what do we tell the poor sot when he proudly announces this one in the New Collector's Board next week?

  1. You surely have a one-of-a-kind
  2. I have the special second loading tool that went with that exact gun.
  3. I've been torn whether to keep it or sell it.
  4. Only $1500

That is a strange auction. The gun is so obviously refinished that it makes me wonder what is going on.

If the buyer had been a zero-feedback buyer, I could understand. The deal would probably have fallen through. However, there were 3 bona-fide bidders.

a******m, who has 8 feedbacks, twilpitz, who has 25 feedbacks, and S and S HUNTCLUB, who has 1892 feedbacks.

See below.

And the guy had the nerve to send this out to everyone who had looked at it right before the auction ended. All you have to do is hit the "Update Description" tab, and if you even clicked on it one time you got this nifty little reminder:

Less than 20 minutes left! Don't miss your chance on this one folks!
