When I received this holster the leather around the center hole was almost completely gone and it was held together by a piece of black fabric sewn to the back of the strap. I thought about just replacing the strap, but didn’t want to disrupt the original stitching at the lid. I should have taken before pictures, but this is what I came up with. Feel free to critique, I already know I would use thicker leather if I tried it again.

Wow! How did you splice it like that and match the color?
The color was mostly luck! The center piece was roughly the same thickness as the strap, I cut the ends with a very hard angle and the cut ends of the original pieces with a similar angle and then glued them. I used a very fine file to bring the front finished edge flush without going through the finish and then lightly sanded the back flush. If i did it again, my splice piece would be thicker than the original to start with. Live and learn!
