Sauer Luftwaffe Drilling, 338304, has surfaced on a known websight. It was proofed 542 (May 1942). A decent example but the wood has been refinished so it seems. JIM

This is mine on gunbroker. It is a very nice example with cherry mint bores. The wood HAS NOT BEEN REFINISHED. I lightly cleaned it with wd40 to take off the light grime. That's just glare from the oil in the pictures. The wood is actually a little dull. But will look good with some pledge or past wax if one chooses to do so. With 3 guns going off on Morphys and rock island for 19k, 22k and 26k this is a great value with meat left on the bone
thank you
Andy

It surely looks like a nice piece and could be a great value. But I always find the use of “No Reserve” on Gunbroker sales confusing when coupled with a starting bid amount. To me that is a reserve.

I agree. A starting bid is definitely a "reserve".

It basically is, however I prefer people that actually put a starting bid on something rather than a .01 start with a reserve. But that's just my personal preference

Didnt sell the first time. Was it relisted or did someone buy it after “negotiation”. GB lost some bucks on that one.

I seldom use a reserve - but as a seller and buyer - a start of 1 cent many times is a loss to me.

Well known sellers who do this have a following and usually get their amount or more - but normal guys, its VERY hit or miss on making your amount. Even then if I want $1400 and start it at $1200, there is a good chance it goes for $1200 - If I start it at $400 - it might shoot up to over that same $1200 or $1400 ...and it might not. (more often not)

GUNHEEP, thanks for listing those Luftwaffe Drillings that you are aware of. Interestingly, I had all of them except one in my database along with their Proof-House dates. Stay well, JIM
