I’m interested in collecting data on Astra 600s and willing to make whatever data is collected available to the community, in the interest of the hobby. The survey should only take a minute or two once the pistol is handy. Please post responses to this thread. If you are uncomfortable posting publicly, either PM me or email me directly at [email protected], and the source will remain confidential. Thanks, Roger

1. Complete frame and slide serial number(s)
2. WaAD20 marked (Yes/No)? (This should only apply to serial numbers < 10,501.)
3. LBPN (Landesbereitschaftspolizei Niedersächsen) grip frame marked (Yes/No)?
4. Does the front top slide have the large Astra U/C logo as shown in the “Astra U/C logo” photo below (Yes/No)?
5. Does the pistol have other serial number markings (full or partial) on the muzzle, under the grips, on the barrel, or other parts (Yes/No)? Please specify.
6. Are the magazine(s) serialized (Yes/No)? If yes, answer 6a-d for each magazine.
6a. Provide the magazine serial number.
6b. Is the magazine serial marked parallel to the long dimension or the short dimension of the magazine with the full or partial serial number (Long/Short)? See sample photographs.
6c. Is the matching magazine electro-pencil marked with the full or partial serial number?
6d. Does the magazine have a number 1 or 2 on it, such as those found on police marked magazine of the era? (Like the short dimension magazine example shown.)
7. If you have a period holster, please provide any markings, such a serialization, LBPN, or WaA.
8. If you have photos of your Astra 600 that you are willing to share, please post them, everybody likes photos.

Roger,
I forgot to mention the "Pist.Patr.08 appears only on the barrels of: #4067, #9469 & #15277. I think I read somewhere that this barrel marking and the Astra logo on the slide stopped before ser.#20,000. I guess this survey will help determine that!

Tim, thanks for posting, a good start to collecting Astra 600 data. In reagard to your comment about the Astra barrle logo, I hope to narrow this down. The Dr. L. Antaris Astra books says that the barrel logo ceased in the mid 15000 range, but I know it is higher than that. I have 16020 with the logo. Thanks again,

scat97, thanks for posting your Astras. When I was young (and no money) in the early 60s , I remember endlessly studying ads from Klein's in Chicago for Lugers, P38s, M1922, etc, for what seemed like unobtainable amounts of money. I specifically recall one ad for Lugers for $49. You didn't say what Hunter Lodge was asking for Astra 600s in the 60s, but I'm guessing it was pretty low. Thanks again for posting.

Hi Roger,
If the ole memory serves correctly, I paid a whopping $29 for the pistol:p
The 400s were less, I assumed because they fired the 'weird' 9mm round. OH, for the good old days!

Roger,
While reassembling my pistol, the pin holding the grip safety slipped out. At the bottom left of the safety, I discovered that the full serial number (39472) is stamped there also. Wasn't sure if fellow members were aware of this one, I surely wasn't.
Thanks, Don

Gunbroker shows Astra 600, #17494 with fake waffenamts. Altho no other details are available, there is an Astra logo on the front of the slide.

Tim, I saw that pistol a little earlier today due to another post. A shame that someone defaced it for financial gain. Although as you point out, it is # 17494 with the logo. I'll record it and maybe ask the Seller for some more photos.
