This is the first P08 that I remember seeing with a corrected barrel gage mark. The mark was originally 8,84, but the 4 has been overstamped with a 2. Other than showing that the barrel was within established bore dimensions, what other purpose would the gage mark serve, and it also seems to indicate that someone double checked the original inspection.
This is on a 1911 dated DWM P08.

A reasonable SWAG, but an unusual marking for sure. Since the 4 or the 2 is an acceptable size, I find it interesting it was changed at all?
