can anyone direct me to a site that shows various true and faked scribes that can assist one in determining whether a barrel has been replaced? I am looking at a 1902 fat barrel and the barrel has a scribe mark but not the frame. i can hardly imagine that the armorer missed the frame with his little chisel or whatever they used. The gun is an american eagle sn 22269 and all matching except magazine.
I heard that there is a posting on the net at some board that shows real and fake or improvised scribes. I'll bet Mr. Still knows. If someone would please direct me to a site or a book I would be grateful. Thanks Mike
