I have always assumed this was a WW2 bayonet (bought it as a kid at a yard sale or church bazar). I thought it was a k98 bayonet, but don't really know.

Now, I am unsure.

The marking on the rear is hard to read, so I took crappy pictures, plus scanned it in.

Comments welcomed.

Ed, It is a Mauser bayonet. The unit mark is different. The bottom part is possibly, A= Artillery?
I= Infantry
R 51= Regiment 51
II= 2nd Army Corps
Artillery unit of the 51st Infantry. I can't quite make out the top part. Is it 1500 PA)?

It is a Nazi period K98 bayonet with what seems to be an Imperial or Weimar marked frog.
