Dear Friends:

I am considering purchasing a Beretta 1934. Serial number #F32911. On the slide it states 1942 XX1. Comes with two magazines. Holster has a light green tint and both holster and magazines are at least 93%. However the pistol has pitting on frame, slide & barrel.

My question is with a green holster with no markings where was it issued to. I was thinking about buying this rig and looking for a nice clean 95% or better model 1934 and matching it up with this holster & 2 magazines.

Any and all information would be much appreciated.

Regards,

George

Hi George,
The green holsters were standard later issue Italian Army. Earlier issue were brown and police issue were black.I have also heard of a blue variation. Claimed to be Navy or Air Force? 1934's are often found pitted from holster storage. The tanning methods of their leather is the culprit. Probably chrome tanned. High chromic acid content. The XX stands for the 20th year of the of Mousillini"s Reign.
He took power in 1922.

Dear Ron:

Many thanks for your response. I am not sure what my interest in Beretta 1934 so I have not looked into what's book are available. Could you please advise what the other roman numbers stand for as I have seen different markings.

Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

George,
I'm not really into them either, other than my father-in-law gave me one that he carried through every major campaign in WWII as a C-47 and later a B-24 pilot.Beginning in North Africa, where he aquired the pistol. The Roman numerals signify each year. Starting with XII (12th year) etc. Mine is a 1938 marked XVI (16th year). Also a bit pitted and blue worn.
