Just picked this up and out of all my guns, this is probably the most special one I own. It came from the late Don Andrews' collection. It is also photographed and referenced in Jan Still's Axis Pistols. Feel truly honored to now own it. Aside from the history of the gun, it is also special in that it is not only Waa162 marked, but it also has what is left of a 4UT mark underneath it. Would love to know the community's thoughts on this. Side note, looking for a correct holster for it if anyone has one or knows of one floating around. Thanks!

Wow! Very nice pistol never seen one with the WaA 162 marking. I also posted my Italian family yesterday.

wow, congrats on a rare pickup. I also notice that it has the very late style slide legend or "small letters". The very few legit waffenamt'd guns I have seen all seem to be in that same serial range of the early 570,000 range and around the time they changed the slide legend. The fake ones I have seen have the old style slide legend. I understand why this would be the centerpiece of your collection! Thanks for sharing and congratulations again.

No, it was a Italian proof office: it's means 4th Ufficio Tecnico and was in activity also before the German occupation.
