I found this one in a pawnshop and got it for $200 OTD. It is SN# 9940xx. Has the crown over RE proof..Army? Also a boxed GE on trigger guard web. Mag has the toe and is stamped..PB CAL 9 CORTO MADE IN ITALY. The exterior shows some holster wear, grips are whole and the bore is excellent. Solid pistol...I hope it shoots as good as it feels. Cone Ten
Your gun is fairly common with about 80,000 produced at that time. It is Italian army noted by the crown over RE symbol.
The initials on the trigger guard web are Beretta Inspection marks ... is it GB rather than GE?
Mag is an after market. If you want to shoot the gun I would change out the recoil giude spring with one by Wolfe. It sounds like your pistol has seen some action and because it has an aftermarket mag, most likely was shot by the previous owner.
