Bergmann/Lignose Database

Hi all. I have been keeping a version of a database containing serials and other data on the Bergmann/Lignose .25 cal. pistols.

I have added examples from the net when I come across them though my efforts have been sporadic. I have tried to provide references to the examples in terms of links but, again, this is woefully incomplete.

I am putting this thing in Excel on a hosting service so that you lot can download/manipulate and otherwise have your way with the data. I ask that you post additions and corrections in this thread. I will update the "Master" database to reflect these changes (probably sporadically). I am sure that some of your examples are already here. If so, please check the entry and add/fix as necessary.

The link below will take you to the spreadsheet.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/3rks94m5zstvj7s/Bergmann-Lignose_Posting_DB.xls/file

You will note that I have columns for price and the presence or absence of a slide SN as well as a date for when an entry was updated.

I have summarized the data and these summaries can be found in the "stats" tab. I reproduce them below ...

Have fun and remember to add to the data here. I will update the DB and post it.

And if you tumble the data, be sure to post any insights!!

Ed, that is simply AWESOME - I just downloaded the spreadsheet. Thank you for compiling this!
I think the original was from here. I get the urge to troll the net and find examples every now and then. I got a DB from my pal Ed Buffaloe and did a merge and purge with that data.

Sadly, there are holes in it but such things are always a work in progress.

Couple of things that might emerge are:
- getting a better handle on when the patent referred to in the D.R.P.a. inscription was awarded (what SN I mean). Thats why it would be nice to get the inscription (D.R.P.a. versus D.R.P.) recorded.

- Picking up on variations, such as the one that I recently came across

- Importer and dealer marks

I have one marked "August Schuler". What others are lurking out there? Also, I cannot recall seeing any "Germany" import marks. Is this a sign of incipient old age or were they, in fact, not imported into this country?

Interesting stuff.

I saw the "August Schuler" marked example in the list and I was going to inquire about that one. Lo and behold, I get a photo without even asking!

There are actually numerous early Model 2s with "Germany" markings in various locations. Interestingly, I've never observed "Germany" markings on any of the other three models. But it's possible that some may have escaped my notice.

See my Lignose thread for a number of those "Germany"-marked Model 2s and the location of the markings:

May be old news but here is a link to info on the Schuler concern.

EdD,

Thanks for uploading that Lignose catalog, could you imagine finding a boxed, ENGRAVED, with mother of pearl grips (or perhaps they're ivory) on a Lignose 2A, I would be completely floored!

Exactly like that, what a beautiful pistol, didn't realize the finish was nickeled but makes sense for a high end model like this. Stunning, thanks for sharing!
Oh I've posted it elsewhere but to update the database I have a

Bergmann 3A
Serial Number: 5729

Slide: " Theodor Bergmann, Gaggenau WAFFENFABRIK SUHL CAL.6.35 D.R.P.a. "

Grips: Bergmann "Hard Rubber" Grips

Standard cocking piece/ racking trigger, not the brass variation
