Hello; just found a 7.65mm DWM 1906. As it is my first, and here in Brazil we're facing a serious gun control (they only forgot to tell the bad guys), is a bit hard to get info. Point is - the extractor bears the word CARREGADA (portuguese), wich means loaded in english. All parts have the same serial number, except the only magazine. It's marked DWM on the top and a little rounded "B", left side just after the barrel. Serial number 4176.
Anyone would possibly have some information about this contract and, eventually, about this particular gun? All I know is that there were 5.000 7.65's and 2.000 9mm.
I will appreciate any reply.

Welcome to the forum and greetings from Canada, we are a good distance apart.

Your luger is a 1906 Brazilian contract luger. Carregada on left side of the extractor is correct for your luger as is the small B on the receiver, look close the B should be inside a circle.Should also be one on bottom of the barrel.

Not to many of these lugers made and are usually very rough when found, yours looks pretty good.

Congratulations on your very nice contract luger.

Highest reported serial number according to Kenyon Lugers at Random is 4920

Thank you for those informations. You've been very kind.
If you do not mind, however, wich books can provide me a better view of the brazilian contract? I am going next May to NYC and will not be dificult to find them.

Thanks again!

Sorry for not getting back to you as I have been away, Pete gave you some good info.

The Brazilian contract luger is not studied in depth, however the 1906 commercial lugers of which yours falls under is so you are in a good position to study the Brazilian on your own terms.

Lugerlou, I am about to confirm this with the proper data, but this Brazilian contract was under request of the government, for military and police use. I will let tou all know when I find out.
