I have read where 41 byf's should have the P-08 stamped on the receiver, left side. Does this always hold true? I have 41 BYF 963 with no suffix, E/135 marked, and have also read that #1000 was the start of that production. There is no P-08 stamped on the receiver. The mags are police syle numbered 1 and 2 with nothing else but 963 on them. The gun has no sear safety, and has not been drilled for one. Came as a rig with capture papers. Any help much appreciated.

Mike according to Jan's book you're right it should be P.08 marked. Does the frame have the Mauser hump? If it does I would guess that it was an old frame that was used? Did it come with a holster? If so is it an Amry or poilce style? I have seen Police guns that were not drilled for the safety before. Maybe Jan will chime in?

I have noticed markings inside the receivers of other lugers I rent, and was curious if there were any markings inside the receiver specific to the 1941 byf?

I say "rent" because I feel it is our job to preserve the history for future collectors to enjoy as much as I do.
