BYF 43 Mag Question

I aquired a BYF 43 P-38 recently, and I was wondering if the mag is correct for it. The mag is marked jvd only. There is no P.38,P.38v, or acceptance mark on the spine of the mag. If the mag isn't correct what mag would be correct? Which P.38(s) would this mag be correct for?

Thanks,

Your mag was not issued with the gun. The correct mag would be either a P.38 on the left side with e/135 for the very early guns, my "a" block has such a mag or P.38v on the left side with e/135 on the spine for later guns. I believe in February of 1943 the "v" was added to the mags.

Thanks Mark for the info. I didn't think my mag matched my P.38. Do you know which P.38 my jvd mag would be correct for?
jvd produced mags for all three manufactureres of P38's, most of their production was used later in the war. Mags that were issued with the pistol from the factory would have the WaA acceptance stamp on the mag along with any other markings that we see on jvd mags. A jvd mag without this would be a spare mag that was not issued with the gun for field use.

Here is a link to a late war rig I own that had two jvd e/359 accepted mags

Thanks again Mark! You have a wealth of P-38 knowledge. Your comments and website have been most informative. I think I will have to pick up the Magazine Spotters Guide to the P-38 book that your book review speaks of.
