I have some unfortunate news that I thought I would share with the members here. As some of you may be aware, starting on the 1st of May 2020, the government of Canada has made prohibited thousands of makes and models of firearms through Order in Councils (I guess you could say it is somewhat similar to a Presidential Executive Order). Canadian owners have had to hold onto these firearms for the past 5 years, and keep them locked away in a safe at home. You can google the lists if you want to see how ridiculous this all is (Eg: Mauser 1915 Automatic Rifle, Volks Gewehr VG1-5, M1 Carbines - because that is what the criminals seem to be using these days). In 2022 the Canadian government decided to no longer allow the import, sales, trade, and transfer of handguns.
Unfortunately, despite growing public concerns, and the "public safety" minister himself caught on tape saying that its a bad program, they still have pushed forward with the confiscations, and they starting with the businesses. Some businesses chose to take part in the confiscation, as they were promised some compensation for the firearms that were taken from their possession by the government. It is now coming to light, that Colt CZ group owned Colt Canada is where these firearms are being sent to for the confiscation and (I suppose) their eventual destruction. It is truly unfortunate that such a big player in the gun world would support the confiscation and destruction of guns from private users, and if they are willing to betray the Canadians in this way, then who is to say they wouldn't do the same to other countries citizens.
The Colt CZ group own a number of other companies, including Sellier and Bellot, Dan Wesson, and SPUHR to name a few

Colt Canada, and the Colt CZ Group have not responded to Canadians attempting to seek further clarification on this topic. Some popular American social media personalities are starting to bring up this story, so I hope that the Colt CZ Group will come forward and shed some light on the confiscation of private citizens firearms. I also encourage all of you to please also reach out and ask why their companies are assisting in this program.
