I have DWM s/n 4136 no letter suffix. No “chamber date” on this pistol. This pistol has two inspection stamps and one proof mark on the left side of the frame. No dovetail milled on the rear of the frame. No “unit markings” on this pistol. All matching including one original matching magazine. A plus is the period holster with no year made by F.W. Kinkel of Mainz. It does have the hold open added by Erfurt.

First Issue SN 40, 2261, 8090, 2702a,

Some additional first issues...

SN 40 - already on the list; offered at Simpson Ltd; list states no unit mark available but pics show 72.R.M.G.70; has British proofs on barrel underside; maybe the ad will help fill in other details on data collection.

SN 2261 - not on the list; I acquired this at recent RIA auction; it was misidentified as a 1920 DWM military Luger; based on the price I paid, someone else also recognized this identification; unit mark 94.R.M.G.2. I'll post pics of this one in a separate thread at some point.

My recent acquisition: DWM First Issue Military LP.08 Luger, serial number 4571a, hold-open added, unit-marked 26.R.4.1. It is an import, probably during the 1980's and marked "LUGER P08 9MM GERMANY/C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT" along the bottom long axis of the barrel in two lines. It appears to have been refinished in a black-oxide blue, but wasn't buffed so all markings appear crisp - numbers-matching. Came in a plain, unmarked cardboard box; springs appear to have been replaced and outfitted with after-market black plastic grips. I replaced those with a set of reproduction walnut grips, but would like to obtain an original set, preferably lighter beechwood. If anyone has a set they are willing to part with, please send me a PM. Photos can be found in an album I created on my profile.
