ST.POL.URAD RYMAROV means STATE POLICE OFFICE RYMAROV.

In my humble opinion the marking is fake:
1) Pistol is ARMY ACCEPTED! J Lion 37 is army acceptance mark. Police pistols were commercial proofed. Gendarmery pistols were army proofed but not marked POLICE!!

2) This marking is absolutely uncommon. ST.POL.URAD is not correct. Correct marking is CS. STRAZ and name of the town, for example CS. STRAZ PRAHA or CS. STRAZ KARLOVY VARY.

3) Rymarov with population about 6000 was to small to be seat of COUNTY POLICE! In Rymarov was a GENDARMERY STATION! (Gendarmery was armed entirely with vzor 22 and vzor 24 pistols cal. 9 mm!)

4) The hooks and acutes were engraved by hand! All the police markings were stamped with die.

Jan and Fritz, I am not at home near my data so I can not add much to this other then to say something did not add up when Fritz sent this datasheet on this pistol. I can say that the serial number fits right in with other 1937 vintage Cz-27's. It almost appears that the frame was reused, but why wouold a factory or police unit stamp a marking so neatly then turn it back in for refurbishment, only to be miltarily accepted? I have access to another J lion 37 that I will try to go look at to compare the markings. The J lion marking was obviously applied after the police like markings. Typically the J lion 37 marking would be inthe centerline of the area above the grips. I also want to verify the CZ emblem and its location. My E7 lion 38 marked Cz-27 has the CZ emblem in the same area.

I will research a little more when I get back home.

In my humble opinion is it army accepted vzor 27 with faked police marking. The mostly strong evidence is in Rymarov definitely was a NOT police station but GENDARMERY station. The police pistols are marked on County Town principle. You can find markings PRAHA, KARLOVY VARY, BRNO, JIHLAVA. All this towns are County Towns wit population over 100 000.

Jan, Robert,

Many thanks for the answers.
I believe not in a faking, then who should and why such a special Czech stamping produce?
The weapon dates directly from the estate of the East German DDR.
There nobody has faked weapons certainly since there hasn't been any private possession of firearms.
In addition, only very few collectors are interested in Czech weapons here in Germany and I have got this pistol for very little money.

Hello members, as i am not a specialist in this area like Jan or Bohemian, from the stamp that used on the right side, it could be not a Gendarmerie under german procurry??, that was used a older Gendarmerie pistol, proofed in 1937, the 24G157 looks like german type markings, and the St.Pol.Urad could be added later in 1939-45 period, then the diacritics could be added by any other czechs, its important to know, how its the pistol come to Germany, when is vet bringbang it could be correct, when is postwar or post 90-ies sale, its with high possibility a fake. But Rymarov is too small village to know for fakers in other countries, more possible then faked in Czechia.best regards,Andy from Slovakia
