Was wondering what are the earliest dates anyone has observed on P.08 holsters. When did they start to date them? The earliest one I have seen was dated 1913. Jerry Burney tells me he has observed 1910. Were 1908 dates on the first military holsters? Seldom do I see dates earlier than 1917 on e-bay listed leather. Would someone out there like to share their experience along this line?

To clarify what Herb is saying here I must say I think I remember a 1910 but cannot say for sure and have no photo's. I told him Jan Still would undoubatbly be the expert authority here as he collects and is interested in this era. Jan? Thanks, Jerry Burney

Wow, what a great documentation! Thanks very much for your extensive researched reply, Jan. I will keep my eyes open for those early dated specimens. I guess dating started from the "get go".
