Vaclav,

I can add nos. 302 and 273. Follow the link below to see no. 273 in its original box (this one in rare excellent shape), as displayed on the Coltautos.com website:

http://www.coltautos.com/1908vpac.htm

I'm sure I can add a few more numbers. Give me a little time and I'll look through my library of saved photos.

Bob, thank you very much!
This beautiful photo of the box, and even the manual is.
Thank you for your serial number. I certainly want to see them.
To fill the table I need time, and perhaps help to determine the name of the parts. Correct me if I'm not exactly call the parts.

Vaclav

Good morning to everybody.
I am a new entry, thanks at Vaclav. I would like to know more about this type of gun. I'm an owner of one in 7,65 cal, Jieffeco. Are there some forum dedicated, not only for marked numbers? Are theree maybe some books?

Many Thanks and Happy Easter to everybody.

Guido, you're probably man to whom I prevented sell your gun?
In that case I am glad that you have come to the forum.

I'll send you a personal message links to information on these guns.
This information is of course not enough to know all about these guns.
That is why I created these tables. Here I have shown no detailed information.
I prepare the material for publication of the book and do not know when it will be released in print.
All the time appear new facts.

P.S. If you give me a good picture of your gun, it will help to further explore these pistols.
If you do not want to show the public, please send an email .
I will be very grateful.

Regards

Hello and welcome,

There are no books in any language asides from period works on Liege firearms. Those are rare and expensive and can be vague.
You have located the biggest data collection out there thanks to Vaclav.

Every updated modification of the Melior pistols was advertised as a New model .
Therefore, you cannot apply this name to a single model .

Today my collection of documents has been replenished with this original instruction for the Melior pistol of the old 6.35 caliber model.
As you can see, the instruction is dated 1909 year. publisher: Moritz Magnus Jr. Hamburg.
This small brochure has 16 pages and several pictures.
The text is printed in German, English, French and Spanish.

Here are a few pages to view ....

I note that certain of these early guns are marked in German "Selbstlade Pistole". I also note that in the 1911 ALFA catalogue, on page 109, is pictured a Jieffeco pistol with the JF&Co. monogram on the grips but with the inscription scratched off. This gun is labeled ALFA Patent. I suspect that these "Selbstlade Pistole"s were the guns sold by ALFA (Adolf Frank). Does anyone know if there are any other markings on these guns?

On number 16751 the spring housing is fixed in place by the barrel being "mushroomed" at the end. Looks as if someone even tried putting it in a bench vise to attempt to take it apart. Has anyone else seen this? Factory or later modification/malfunction? IMG_6528.jpg

I don't know what the problem is .
Can't you do a pistol dismantle?
I have long noticed that this gun has a large scratch on the recoil spring housing .

Ed,
I will explain to you who sold Melior pistols with this markings when you can start working together on the article.

Vaclav, no it does not dismantle. Only thing I can do is take the screw out of the spring and remove the hammer. The spring housing is fixed to the frame due to the barrel being mushroomed at the end. Never had any issues with Melior’s before.

Probably someone wedged the barrel at the muzzle .
And now you can't remove the recoil spring housing ?
In this case, you will need a WD-40(Or other liquid deep-penetrating technical oil ), a polyuritan hammer, a wooden bar 100X30X30 cm, and diamond paste .

My friend Joe,
Especially for all collectors of these wonderful pistols, we together with Ed Buffaloe made a big article .
This is the best work in the investigation of Melior pistols of this model, which we have for all collectors. Many thanks to my friend Ed for his patience .
If Ed will agree to make an article about Melior pistols model 1914 I will be very grateful to him .
I'm currently working on this section for a book .
Joe I want to hear your opinion about our work with Ed .

Vac......AMAZING!!!! I read the article at least five times. You put a lot of quality work along with Ed on a subject where there was "very little" good information on Melior pistols. You guys did a superb job with great research and pictures for collectors of those quality Belgium pistols like me.
My thanks to you and I'm waiting for your book,
Joe
