I have been watching two Ebay auctions by the same seller. The first is artillery leather and the second the stock. Each is breaking at $200 plus right now. I would be interested in the members' comments on both offerings.

George, I cannot comment on the stock untill I see it better but the holster is a knock off for sure. The reasons are numerous but I suspect you already know that.I will look at eBay and try to see the stock a little better. On a seperate note, eBay kicked off a Luftwaffe belt buckle I had listed. Geo, The holster looks almost too good. From the close-up of the mark, it looks like pig skin, but the stitching looks like waxed synthetic, and machine stitched. I think it's a repro. Is the stock police marked? Has the Umlaut U like a K U Luger. Kind of strange.

How about comments on the, often seen, nonstandard strap arrangement on the back of the holster. What are these holsters with the strange third strap? I have one and it's supposed to be Persian but I have great reservations about that.

IIRC, this is a Pakistani knockoff; they are made of goat skin and stink to high heaven. The whole ensemble is as fake as a Kerry political promise.

Ron, Cause their liberal Nazi's who want to ban what they don't like and cannot understand, not realizing they are just like the NSDAP in their methods. The Nazi's banned all that they thought would harm or detract from their message. Didn't work for them and it won't work for eBay. There are 2200 Nazi items listed today. 168 are German daggers, many Nazi. Their talking out of both sides of their mouths.

George, this extra strap was seen many years ago when knockoffs were not as prevalent as they are today. This rig is as phoney as a Clinton three dollar bill. Like Tom A says it probably stinks too. Jerry Burney

Hey Tom, got some NC types coming to the show in Chantilly in two weeks. I got a car service that will carry us all into DC Saturday night and back out, the Tarheels want to trash the Kerry/Edwards HQ

On a more business-like note. The whole leather rig is bogus. All should shun the Hoffman-Berlin mark like a Vampire would the crucifix. During the fifties through seventies someone produced a sh:tload of fake Luger Artillery stuff. This mass included holsters, stocks, attaching leather and on. I have also run across alot of C96 harnesses made during the same period. There are two common traits; first is goat skin, second is "AP HOFFMANN BERLIN 1916".
I have attached a photo of the maker mark from a leather TM08 pouch that I owned several years ago. Look at it closely. All TM08 pouches in leather are phony. No european has ever seen one except on our side of the Atlantic. I will double insert it, setting a second copy beneath the maker mark above.

I have most recently seen the same makers mark on two different C96 rigs.

The artillery holster shown has also turned up on European shows. They go for about 200EUR each and on a large Belgian show I spotted 4 - 5 of them on different tables.

So Euro buyers, beware as well

All India made holsters are marked "HOFFMANN" ad all smells like elephants *******. Often seen around the Europe offered as copy. On Artillery rig is often to see craftsman marks (red ball point pen) in strap area.
