Figured this would be a good post to start. Have been on other forums and have lurked around here for a while. Hope I’m in the right spot! A friend was selling some of his collection so I picked this up. A BYF 43 with a two digit serial. Not sure whether or not holster is kosher but it came with it.

I believe the holster is a post-war police item. Good looking pistol.

Daniel is correct. The holster is post-war. Photos are not good, but as long as the locking block matches, you have a nice matching Mauser made P38 from 1943. Great find!

The white background is what kills photos with a phone. Try a background of medium value, not too dark and not too light and you will see a vast improvement.

Quit right . . . .
Background of solid “earth tones” . . . .brown or blue. NO PRINTS on background material.
The white background shuts down the camera aperture, making the desired object almost a silhouette.
Definitely a good looking P38. I'd say you did very well!
