Just for the record here, pretty much everyone of my previously owned, circa late 1960's & 70's BHP's indeed exhibited Red Paint on the inside of their Grips. I never did determine why, but mine we're all purchased for either work related purposes or as shooters, so I wasn't overly concerned as to why the Red Paint ? I still get a little upset just thinking about that C Series, 1969 dated HP, as I had swapped my 7.65mm Ortgies RFV Rig for it !!!! ( Live & learn, right ? )
