A local vet liberated my unissued, unfired, high power. The number is 47xxxa (small case letter a). What would the date of production be? This pistol came with an unmarked magazine with two slits in the base. The mag is not that well made, with tool marks on it.

The pistol also came with a typical Nazi issue High Power, G.P. holster, though it is brown. What branches of the German military used brown holsters in WWII?

Thanks,
Greg

Your HP, 47xxxa, should have a standard sight, lack the stock slot, and bear the E/WaA140 stamp. See page 88 Axis Pistols for a HP similar to yours. I would guess that your HP was manufactured in late 1943.
