French ministry od war placed the contract for 18000 pistols Unique 17. SN range started according Medlin & Huon (and my observations too)about 400 000. My pistol is SN 412 315. No acceptance mark, RF (Republique Francaise) on grips.
Medlin & Huon mentioned another extra French army contract about 3000 pistols in 418 000 - 421 000 SN range.
German Army procurement started about SN 21 000. In my humble opinion the Germans easy eliminate the first number 4 and SN continued with hidden "four hundreds"
