Hello all, I purchased a Frommer Stop pistol this morning for $75 from a friend it is serial num. 149599 the trigger guard has an eagle type crest followed by the number 17, does this make it a martial pistol? The pistol is in good shape with wooden grips but the guy I got it from says it is prone to jamming even with hardball, any info from you guys would be appreciated.

While I'm sure someone else here can elaborate further,
the markings you describe indicate your pistol was
accepted by the Hungarian armed forces during 1917.

Look close --the marking should be Bp/crest/17 and marked on the trigger guard. It means that it was accepted in Budapest in 1917 by the Hungarian military.

Hi all,
I thought I would throw this one in here. Just in case someone is keeping track of serial numbers. The serial is 287758 and it is marked Bp Crest 20. I took it apart to clean it...they really over thought this design! Neat pistol. I know its a poor photo, the pistol is in really nice condition.

Re. the Bp/crest/17 marking, is the 17 supposed to be inside of the crest, or alongside,...?
Can you include a photo of this marking?

Hello pancho
The date was dropped after about 1921--your pistol never had a date after the crest. It was made in about 1921.
