Hello all. I need some assistance... Someone recently offered me - no photos yet - a holster for a TT-33 that he identified as "German modified." I asked what made it a German modification, and he claims that the Germans modified TT-33 holsters by removing the longer belt loops with rings, and replaced them with a single wide leather belt loop set lower behind the flap. I guess this would, in turn, make the holster ride higher on the belt than with the original, longer loops.
My question: Has anyone heard of German-modified TT-33 holsters? I did try to do some internet and book research before posing this question here, and I could not come up with anything. After finding nothing in my limited reference library, I examined photos I could find of Germans/Russians in German service with TT-33s (photos from Pannwitz's Cossacks by François de Lannoy and various internet sources). Most of those photos seem to show standard TT-33 or the "universal" holsters in use. Is there any merit to this "German modified" claim or is it more likely to be just a repair?
Thanks for your time.
