Here is a recently aquired photo of a german soldier firing a small revolver. It appears to be a Velo Dog or perhaps a german made small caliber commercial pistol? What do you guys think?

Hi Adam, It is a Velo Dog. Quite the marksman-ish pose. I wonder if he was able to hit the ground with it?
He must have been a third string latrene technician to have been issued such a pretigious pistol.

Hey Ron,
Are you sure that isn't a Pickert Revolver? How could a self respecting German soldier be caught and photographed with a Belgian Velo-dog revolver!! ) I have a Pickert (Arminius) in 6.35 that was a capture item!! and looks exactly the same....I know due to the size of the picture we are surmizing!!

Hi Dave,
I believe this is the pistol he is shooting. I borrowed the photo from a previous post by Pancho. It could be that he was Po-Folk and it was all he could afford,too. Personally I would prefer a big rock and a sling-shot, but that's just me.

The "hand on hip" stance would have been disapproved of by m`farther - a bit too camp. The official stance was to maintain a firm grip on the back of one´s belt.
