Welcome to the forum. I do not believe that is a factory finish. Looks like someone coated painted or coated it somehow. It will really bring the value down in my opinion. Is there any markings on the front grip strap? Alot of these pistols were purchased by the police and so property marked.

Alan K, your 1914 Mauser pocket model is from the post WWI era. It has Weimar police markings. The finish is non-original which hurts value significantly. What would be a $600-800 pistol is reduced to a retail value of $150-200 if it functions in IMHO. Please pardon the messenger. Regards,
