·Was there a standard practice involved in serial numbering the grips? I have some guns with no grip #s' some with 2 matching digits and some with the full 4 digits. Thanks.

I asked that same question a few months back. You might try doing a search of my posts for the full responses.
In summary, the answers I received indicated that some of the Imperial Lugers were shipped with two digits and others, especially in the last years of WW-I, were shipped with no numbers. I have neither seen nor read of grips marked with the full four digits, but my area of familiarity is limited to Imperial Lugers.
BY THE WAY . . . on which kinds of Lugers have you found the four digit grips?

Look under the title "Simson War school Lugers" Two of the Simsons shown have 4 digit serial numbers on their grips.

The Dutch Luger grips I have experience with which are serial-numbered (not all are) have the full serial number. On the KOL series guns which extend into five digits this includes all five.
