You my friend, are a very brave soul ! In as much as I can see S/42 on the toggle link , I have to assume that it is a military luger made between 1934 and 1942. A four digit date or in some cases a two digit date of manufacture should be on top of the chamber or a single letter code of either K or G. A photo of the right side of receiver showing the proofmarks would further help to identify this "beauty" !!!

Oto,

'Brave' is not the word I would use when describing someone who would shoot a gun in this condition. Dumb and Suicidal are better.

Although this gun shows remarkable preservation, even after being buried for so many years, it's a testament to the quality of these guns. However, since corrosion is very extensive many parts will have suffered damage to an extend that it must no longer be considered safe for shooting.

Continued refiring will only lead to two possible endings. That of the gun and that of your health, so please consider this gun as a collection piece and promise us you won't fire it again!

Since it doesn't appear to have the typical Mauser-hump, it's probably pre-1937. The lack of visible date marks, but some marking remains of a date-letter and the large S also push it towards a G-date. I.e. 1935.
